Top 5 regrets of the dying

by Aditya Gir

According to a study done by some hospice workers (people who take care of the elderly), here are the top 5 regrets reported by those close to dying:

  1. I wish I hadn't worked so hard.
  2. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
  3. I wish I had let myself be happier.
  4. I wish I had the courage to express my true self.
  5. I wish I'd lived a life true to my dreams, instead of what others expected of me.

How many of these resonate with you? We really need to start thinking about this, so that we can lead a life free of any regrets and die a happy death. Yes, death is the only guarantee in life. None of us can escape it. So, instead of fearing death, let's embrace it and life our lives without regrets.

We will soon examine this further and see how a regular practice of Yoga can help and perhaps even extend our lives (if that's something that you wish). We will do this in comparison with actual scientific research on longevity.
